Time is our greatest asset – don’t spend it lightly
We all chase money, status, or fleeting pleasures, but the one thing we can never get back is time. Every second that passes is gone forever, and how we spend it defines the quality of our life.
As the Thirukkural wisely says:
“காலம் என்பன் துணைவர்க்கும் இல்வாழ்க்கை”
(“Time is the companion of those who know how to live.” – Thirukkural 104)
From childhood to old age, the value of time shows itself differently:
Childhood & Youth: Learning, exploring, and bonding with family builds the foundation for happiness. Every playful moment and story shared shapes us.
Adulthood: Time spent with loved ones, nurturing relationships, and creating good memories is far more rewarding than idle scrolling or chasing only wealth. Cooking and sharing a wholesome meal, for instance, becomes a ritual of love.
Later Life: We reflect on choices and moments lived. Those who invested time wisely — in experiences, in learning, and in love — find true contentment.
Every stage reminds us: time lost can never return, but time shared, used meaningfully, is the only investment that multiplies.
So today, put down the distractions. Call your parents, laugh with your friends, cook something special, and savor it together. That’s where life’s true wealth lies.
